Posterngate Surgery is located in the centre of Selby, which is a market town approximately 14 miles South of York, 25 miles East of Leeds and 20 miles North of Doncaster. The practice area is approximately 7 miles around the town of Selby. There are approximately 15,000 patients. The practice team consists of 7 partners, 6 of whom are part time and 5 salaried GPs.
The opening hours of the main surgery are Monday 8.00 am - 8.30 pm, Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday 8.00 am - 6.00 pm and Thursday 8.00 am - 8.15 pm.
The branch surgery is open part of the week. We dispense to the patients at the branch surgery which is approximately 5 miles from Selby in Hemingbrough.
There are good working relationships with other practices in Selby (Beech Tree and Scott Road) and care of patients in the GP ward at Selby War Memorial Hospital is shared, as well as covering the Minor Injuries Unit.
There are a number of residential and nursing homes within the practice area. The partners have one home they specifically look after and share the patients at some of the other homes.
The modern purpose built premises were completed in 1997 and extended in 2005 to accommodate training. This created room to accommodate attached community staff such as District Nurses, Health Visitors and Midwives as well as allowing comfortable facilities for Counsellors and Drug Counsellors.

GP Registrar Training
There are two trainers, Dr Julia Batty who became a trainer in February 2006 and Dr Michelle Czajkowski, who commenced training in February 2012.
In brief, Posterngate Surgery is a hard working and efficient surgery. It offers the best services possible to the practice patients. There are many dedicated members of staff who work very hard to maintain the high standards of care delivered to patients on a daily basis. All the GPs at the surgery offer support and guidance to the GP Registrars during their attachment.
