Enhanced GP Skills Course
This course is ideally suited to those doctors or nurses who have little or no experience of minor surgery or use of injections. The aim of the course is to provide the information and setting for practising good surgical technique. This provides sufficient confidence for attendees to commence surgery once they return to their workplace.
The two day course includes the following topics:
• basic surgical technique
• choosing sutures and LA; different methods of closure
• abscesses, toenails, snips shaves and punch biopsies
• medico-legal and regulatory issues. Infection control
• overview of dermoscopy
• pigmented lesions
• joint and periarticular injections theory and practice.
The course has been led by experienced educators and practicing clinicians for over 20 years. Feedback from participants is excellent. Practical sessions generate confidence for inexperienced clinicians.
Quotes include ‘great day, really good practical sessions - thank you’ ‘I want to try toenail surgery and some minor excisions’.
