Market Weighton Surgery

We are a semi-rural dispensing Practice serving 7,500 patients within a seven mile radius of our central Market Weighton Surgery.  There are seven doctors (5.2 WTE), three of whom are trainers. We are a PMS Pilot.

Market Weighton High Street

We operate from a modem fully computerised EMIS based surgery from a single site in the centre of this pleasant market town east of York. We are currently a PMS Pilot surgery having been formerly fundholding.  We are members of the local co-operative North Yorkshire Emergency Doctors using a Primary Care Centre based in Beverley. We have a full team of excellent staff. Several consultants visit the surgery for monthly outpatient clinics. We have all the usual primary healthcare team working closely with us.  We have recently started acting as GPs to an 84 bedded Residential unit for those with learning disability and challenging behaviour.  We shortly hope to have a Macmillan Day Care Unit based on the surgery premises.

We perform some occupational health work for local light industry factories. Whilst Market Weighton is commutable from the local towns and cities of York, Beverley and Hull, in view of its comparative rurality, the doctors at the Surgery have bought a newly built furnished two bedroomed detached house close to the Surgery and adjacent to the village green and duck pond.

We intend to make this available where possible for registrars to rent.

BRIDGET WILKINSON  BSc. (St. Andrews) MBChB (Manchester) MRCGP DRCOG.

I joined the Practice in the Autumn of 1994.  We have three young children, Anna, Eleanor and Henry and despite the youngest having started school.  In addition to General Practice, I work with the MPS as an Associate Consultant in Risk Management, and run workshops at Practices to look at areas of clinical risk. Personal interests (which sadly do not automatically bring knowledge!) include family, wine, good food and foreign travel.
