Gordon Orr

Front Street Surgery, York

The practice is based in the western suburb of York and covers a number of neighbouring villages. The main surgery is in Acomb and we moved into all-singing all-dancing new premises in November 2001. We also have a small branch surgery in the commuter village of Copmanthorpe.

Gordon Orr graduated from Edinburgh in 1990, vocationally trained in Carlisle, and joined the practice in 1995. His clinical interests include diabetes, coronary heart disease and dermatology. The other partners’ interests include headache, women’s health, asthma and mental health.

The whole practice is enthusiastic in its educational role and as well as GPR training we are a clinical placement site for medical students from Hull York Medical School. Paul Reed plans to become the second trainer later this year. Manuela Fontebasso is currently taking some time out from VTS.

We offer the full range of GP services and clinics and close relationships are encouraged with the other members of the Primary Health Care Team, all of whom are based in the Acomb building.

The practice currently uses NYED for all out of hours work and the registrar is expected to work an equal number of shifts as the partners
